Maynard Public Safety Building

Maynard Public Safety Building

Ground Breaking April 22, 2008

The Police Station

  • The new location will be an efficient and economical reuse of the vacated old library space. RENOVATION OF AN EXISTING BUILDING RESULTS IN ABOUT A 30% SAVINGS IN CONSTRUCTION COSTS OVER THOSE OF A NEW BUILDING.
  • The new headquarters meets all current public safety/law enforcement standards.
  • The proposed building will meet the current and future operational needs of the police department The design anticipates use for the next 30 years, and unfinished space above a new garage can accommodate future needs beyond this period without extensive new construction.
  • It is a durable, energy efficient, no frills solution.

The Fire Station

  • A Contractor has been selected for the replacement of the boiler in the existing Public Safety Building, as it is 52 years old and at risk of complete failure in the very near future.
  • The replacement is scheduled for late spring/early summer when heating is no longer required
  • A contingency plan has been prepared, should the boilers fail before replacement.
